So a new necron photo is roaming around the internet as of late.
It's a bit blurry but the jist of it is showing off the new line and some of the prexisting models you can expect to keep in the line. Right off the bat we see the three Necron vehicle platforms. The Ark, Barge and the Monolith. Monolith appears to be unchanged for the most part though the artist of this one has adopted to painting the large crystal on top, so if you have a monolith or two already looks like your ok in that department.
Next to catch my eyes are the destroyers. Same model, same shape and style. Seems to be all in order, and you even note the distinct green crystal rod. Just in front of them, the old warrior models also sporting the green plastic rod. An though I don't see them in the photo one can assume if they didn't redo the warrior sprue then the scarabs are still on them and still good. The rest of the photo is more eye candy of the new range to include fincast lord, Immortals, deathmarkers, Guard, etc.
So what does this photo tell us? Basically if it was plastic and it was old range it's still current range. If it's metal it has been (or will be) redone. An with the introduction of finecast, this conclusion was all but to be expected. One last thing to note. The GW Studio Necron is in a very intresting and eye catching color pallete of Turqiose, Brass and Black. The colors are very contrasting to the eye and really give the models pop. Defintely not the hey look a silver necrons of the past. It gives hope that they came up with some really nice color themes that i hope they have in the codex. Going to hold off on painting any of the Crons from my Battlebox (know that I know thier all current range) until I see the codex. See if any of thier GW created color schemes will inspire me or not.
I do know that I plan to do my army in more a horror (undead) styling more then say the Pharoh's in Space that GW is leading to. Lots of conversions to come. Here is a snapshot of a Wraith I am working on using oddly enough the Fantasy Wrath as a backbone.
